Bathurst 1000
The Bathurst 1000 is definitely Australia's most iconic motor race. The 6.2km track that winds its way up and down Mt Panorama is an awesome circuit and provides some spectacular action.
It is a public road course that was first used in 1938. The layout has changed slightly over the years for safety reasons particularly at the end of Conrod Straight. The Bathurst 1000 is an amazing race and both drivers and cars have to endure more than six hours of grueling racing and sometimes the weather gods throw everything they can at them.
Peter Brock was the master of the mountain with nine Bathurst wins to his name, although some of those came when he was able to be cross entered in more than one car. There are numerous viewing spots around the circuit and some of the sections on top of the mountain provide spectacular sights of drivers and machine at the top of their game.
Camping right at the circuit provides a great atmosphere and enables you to take in all the action. The town of Bathurst is a short walk or taxi ride away. Access to the paddock area is also provided on our tour and there are plenty of support categories which provide plenty of racing action over the four days.
