Indianapolis 500
The Indianapolis 500 race is probably the most iconic motorsport event in the world and has now celebrated one hundred years since the first 500 mile race. With more than 300,000 spectators it is the biggest single day sporting event anywhere in the world. Witnessing speeds of over 350km/hr is an awesome spectacle that has to be experienced first hand and being part of that awesome crowd is a moving experience.
Iconic Motorsport Adventures Indianapolis 500 tour utilises modern RV motorhomes and we park in the RV park right across the road from the Speedway. This way you will experience all the tradition and party atmosphere that goes with an event like the Indianapolis 500. The atmosphere builds in the days leading up to the 500, and by race day it is electric.
Scott Dixon became the first kiwi to win the 500 when he won the race in 2008 and each year since, he has been right in the hunt for another win but it has eluded him in the last few laps. It is a very hard race to win and over the last hundred years there have only been 70 drivers to get their likeness on the awesome Borg Warner trophy. In 2025 we should have three Kiwis competing in the race as we had in 2024.
